December WIPocalypse Check-In

December Topic: Recap your accomplishments for the year.  My goal for the year was to stitch.  I am happy to say, I reached my goal.  This year I even started a stitching journal to keep me on target with my stitching.  I was able to touch each of my WIPs this year at some point because of all the challenges I participated in (in spirit because I'm still not on Facebook).  I also had 8 crafty finishes, 4 of those were cross stitch pieces.  And I even FFO'd two cross stitch pieces (Thanks Stitcherista!!!).  I also joined Instagram (@jguidry94) which is a huge social media step for me.  I am calling 2017 successful.  Hopefully, I'll do just as well in 2018.

November Focus Piece

My focus piece for this month was Dolphin's Domain by Dimensions.  I couldn't come up with anything creative for NaNoStichMo so I just focused on the piece I wanted to work on.  Next month's theme is Disney December so I'll probably focus on Too Much Honey by Bucilla.

November WIPocalypse Check-In

November Topic: What finishing style have you never tried but would love to do?  I want to try to make a mounted flatfold using Vonna Pfeiffer's tutorial.  I've pretty much only framed my work or made small ornaments.  Pretty much any other finishing technique would be a reach for me.  But, that is one I've been wanting to try for a while now.

This month I am stitching on Baby's Garden Quilt by Janlynn, China Teapot Tray by Maria Diaz, Dolphin's Domain by Dimensions, Fabulous Women in History by Cloudsfactory, Fish City by Stoney Creek, Lavender Sampler by Anchor, Noah's Journey by Dimensions, and Too Much Honey by Bucilla.

October WIPocalypse Check-In

I'm a tad behind in my postings.  Oops.  Here's the catch-up posts.  Sorry.  Life just got in the way.

August Topic: How do you get yourself out of a stitching drought?  I don't really get into droughts where I don't want to stitch.  When I hit a dry patch, it's because I don't have time to stitch.  It usually happens when I go back to school in August and when LPB (our local PBS station) has it's pledge drives in August, December and March.  I am a volunteer and usually work lots of our live nights either answering phone or training new phone volunteers.  I fix this drought by blocking off the next available weekend to do a stitching binge.  I block out the world, grab an audiobook and stitch for two days straight.  It really makes me feel better.

September Topic: Which floss (or color of floss) do you absolutely adore and want to stash constantly?  My favorite colors of floss are the mint greens (think DMC 954 Nile Green in particular).  I'm always a sucker for that color range.  As for type of floss I like to hoard...that would be Petite Treasure Braid.  My eye goes straight for the shiny stuff and that's my favorite.

October Topic: How did you begin stitchingMy mother was a sticher/crafter of all sorts when I was growing up.  She was into every hobby imaginable, one of which was cross stitching.  As a child, I was sick a lot and spent a lot of time on bed rest.  As you can imagine, it was BORING and I whined a lot (I do mean a lot!!).  One day when I was about six, my mom got sick of the whining, threw a cross stitch kit at me and said, "Make an X."  I've been cross stitching ever since.

This month I am stitching on Dickens Mittens by Cricket Collection, Baby's Garden Quilt by Janlynn (a kit),  Too Much Honey by Bucilla (a kit), Dolphin's Domain by Dimensions (a kit), China Teapot Tray by Maria Diaz, Fish City by Stoney Creek, Lavender Sampler by Anchor, and Fabulous Women in History by Cloudsfactory.

10 Hour Rotation Completed!

I finished my 10 hours on Athena by Mirabilia.  Seeing the two images really shows how much I got done in this rotation.  I did better than I thought I had.  I love the colors in this piece.  I'm attempting the pin stitch to attach the random beads throughout the design.  They don't feel very secure to me, but I'll see how that goes.

10 Hour Rotation Completed!

I finished my 10 hours on Into the Deep by Passione Ricamo.  I got a large chunk done on this mermaid's tale.  My problem is the large clear beads.  They are so large, I'm going to have to drop a few beads here and there so they fit.  This was a new start.

July Theme

The theme for July's monthly SAL was Patriotic Pride.  I don't have current projects that are patriotic or red, white, and blue.  So I chose a project that is a "traditional" American scene.  My father found this kit, Yesteryear by Janlynn, and asked me to stitch it for him.  I have almost reached the halfway point.

Next month's theme is All Creatures Great and Small.
